date night: atlanta edition | moving markets

atlanta is amazing | blogmas day 13 (a day late–man i was doing so well)

Some of the best advice that Donald and I have ever received about married life is to always find time for each other—especially when you have kids. Thanks to Theo & Zeke’s awesome Tita Mawi and Tito Steven, we were able to do just that during our time here in Atlanta.

First stop: Foot Massage. We went to a place called Treat Your Feet and got the best foot massage I’ve ever had. It was only $60 for the both of us for one whole hour of relaxing foot massages. You may be thinking as I did: what could they possibly do to your feet in one hour? Everything. If you hate people touching your feet, I do not recommend. But if you don’t mind, it’s amazing. They start off with just massage oil and their hands, but after 15 minutes or so they break out the hot stones and hot towels. For the last ten minutes, they actually have you turn around so they can do your face, neck, and shoulders. Again, it’s amazing. 10/10 would do it again.

When we got out of the massage, Ate Mawi told us both boys were about to fall asleep (at the amazing hour of 8:30–are you kidding me?) so there was no rush for us to go home. We decided to see a movie.

Second stop: Movie. I don’t know what you know about movie theaters, but they can be expensive. Not the one we went to. It’s called NCG Cinema, and let me just say this: all you can eat popcorn, candy, and drinks. You heard me. For less than $40, we got two evening tickets to Jumanji: The Next Level (on opening night, no less), a large popcorn, a cup for candy, and a regular fountain drink—with free refills. They have all the popcorn topping powders you could want, the fancy Coke machines with all the flavor variations, and endless jars of candy ranging from Watermelon Sour Patch Kids to cookie dough bits to Raisinets. I mean, what more could you want?

The movie itself was hilarious. Kevin Hart and The Rock are hilarious together. Danny Devito is hilarious on his own. And, of course, I just love Nick Jonas. If you haven’t seen the first Jumanji movie, I highly recommend it. Then once you’ve done that, see the new one. 10/10 would watch again. Especially at that movie theater.

Overall, it was a pretty successful date night in a place we don’t really know. Both places were recommendations from Ate Mawi, and I am passing on those recommendations to you. I’m glad we got the chance to get away and spend time just the two of us for a little bit.
